Always try to establish either a dark-on-light contrast or a light-on-dark contrast. In this case, you could go for a dark-on-light approach by adding more light to the background — both the blue light coming from the kaiju and the orange light coming from the mech. Adding a bit of atmospheric perspective around the legs would also help separate the different planes more clearly.
