Hey! Don’t get discouraged, I think we all go through this. I’d recommend focusing on studying the fundamentals: perspective, form manipulation, observational drawing, etc. Many times, we struggle to achieve what we have in mind because of gaps in our understanding of these basics. They’re something we should never stop studying and practicing consistently. If you have the chance, Artwod offers roadmaps that can help you a lot with this, so you can gradually build toward creating what you envision :)) I made a small correction to your portrait based on the lighting from the Asaro head to help apply it to your piece. Notice how you get better lighting when you have a reference and a clear sense of the light direction, and of course, understanding the planes of the face helps you paint much more effectively. Don’t get discouraged! You did a great job! :D
