Your use of simple forms is good. To help you manipulate the form you can start with a simple primitive like a cylinder to get the perspective and the proportions. Then you can draw it again with manipulated shapes. In other words, draw it a couple of times and each time use slightly more complex shapes and forms. Try to pay attention to the proportions as well. You made the beetle too long because you had gaps between the segments of the body that aren’t in the reference. You can also see that the frog in the reference is slightly less than 3 heads long which is shorter in the body than what you drew. You’re doing well so keep at it. I would suggest maybe breaking down the reference into different pieces. Practice drawing each individual piece with manipulated shapes and then try drawing the whole thing together. To help boost your understanding of form you can try drawing it again but from a different angle. | Artwod Feedback
