Yo! I’ll break down an effective way to draw hands, which you can learn more about on the ArtWod YouTube channel. There are videos there on how to draw hands more effectively (and avoid just copying what you see). First, you can start by drawing a simplified shape of the hand, like a mitten. This will give you the general proportions, the position, and the gesture of the hand. Then, you need to understand from which angle you’re viewing the hand. For that, you can simplify the forms into boxes and cylinders. Think of the main body of the hand as a simple box, and the fingers as cylinders. This will make it easier to understand the angle and, therefore, the volume. Once you understand these key elements, adding details becomes much easier, since the rest is about drawing the overlapping of forms, like the thumb overlapping the palm, and the palm overlapping the fingers, etc. But I’d strongly suggest focusing on simplifying forms first.
