Good work here! One thing I would suggest regarding the lighting is placing the main light source above the character. With that in mind, think about all the planes that are not directly facing the light; those areas should remain in shadow. This applies to areas such as the mermaid’s cheeks, parts of the abdomen, the underside of the chest (think of them as spheres), the underside of the arms, and so on. Try to keep the simple forms of the body and objects in mind. Thinking in terms of boxes, cylinders, and spheres will help you maintain more consistent and believable lighting throughout the piece. On another note, I shifted the colors toward cooler blue tones. Since the scene takes place underwater, we generally wouldn’t expect to see the same warm color temperatures that we would outdoors. Introducing more blue tones helps reinforce the underwater atmosphere and makes the lighting feel more convincing. Hope this helps! | Artwod Feedback
