Hey! Sorry for the looong text haha. As for the drawing, it looks good overall (i liked the other sketches!) It works nicely as a sketch to start exploring an idea, which is great. At this stage it feels more like an initial concept, so it’s a bit difficult to give very detailed feedback until the design is more developed. One thing that might be interesting to explore further is the proportions of the shoulder pads. Instead of having them simply sit on top of the shoulders, you could try designing them so they follow the shape of the shoulders and the rest of the armor more closely. I was also wondering about the material of the helmet. Is it meant to be the same as the chest piece? From the texture, it almost looks like gold chainmail to me. It’s an interesting idea, although if it is chainmail it might limit the character’s arm movement if it’s placed on top like that. Usually chainmail would sit underneath the armor plates instead. Of course, even in fantasy designs, it can sometimes help to keep a bit of functional logic in mind when thinking about how the armor pieces would actually work together. On the other hand. It works as a sketch for you, but not as concept art. In short, being a concept artist means solving problems through design. This involves providing solutions such as: what the character looks like from the front, side, and back. If the character has armor, what does that armor look like from different views? Can the character move with that armor? If they were without the helmet, could you draw the character’s facial expressions? What kind of weapon do they use? What is the design of the weapon? Etc. The idea of concept art is to solve all these problems so that later the 3D artists can work based on all the previous designs. Therefore, a concept artist is not responsible for making the final illustrations we see of the designs. They can do that, yes, but it’s not the main job. There’s a video from Riot Games that I really like called: “So You Wanna Make Games?? | Episode 2: Concept Art” (you can also just search for “Riot Games Concept Art”). So again: As a sketch for you where you explore an initial idea — it works great! But for a 3D artist to work from this design, not at all. You need to develop the idea much more. There are several examples on ArtStation of the concept art for Diablo IV characters. I recommend checking them out! Hope this helps! | Artwod Feedback
