1. Perspective: your pond should be more flat and horizontal. Imagine this as a shape that's drawn onto a huge floor of square tiles. Even a perfectly round pond would look way more squeezed in the vertical dimension than yours was. In addition: things behind the pond would be much smaller! See that tree stump. 2. Other big fixes: add more elements of overlap. This will emphasize how your pond sits in space. I didn't do this, but consider adding rocks that block our view of the side edges of the pond. 3. Clear distinction between background/middleground/foreground. You are beginning to do this. Imagine you were to make your painting by cutting out pieces of colored paper and gluing them to each other. What kinds of silhouettes/overlaps would look most pleasing? 4. General note: use a more thoughtful line weight (thickness) your work will be much easier for you to evaluate. I can see your line weight is thick in the background and thin in the foreground. Normally there's not that much of a difference in line weight, and if there is, it's the other way around (slightly thinner in background, slightly thicker in foreground). | Artwod Feedback
