Hello there! The main issue with the piece is the value range. Most of the values are too similar, which makes it difficult to create a strong contrast between the character and the background. Keep in mind that you generally want a “light against dark” or “dark against light” relationship. This helps prevent important areas from blending and avoids situations where you end up with light-on-light or dark-on-dark. What I did here was brighten the background a bit so the cat stands out more clearly. I also adjusted some of the lighting and color on the character itself. I introduced slightly warmer orange tones in the areas exposed to the magical light coming from the staff, while also adding light coming from the orb the character is holding. This creates a warm vs cool color contrast, and the rim light also helps the silhouette separate better against the darker background. Hope this helps! | Artwod Feedback
