Hello there! In general, the portrait feels a bit flat due to the lack of clear light direction and cast shadows. It’s usually not ideal for the light source to come from the same direction as the camera. Instead, it’s often more effective to have the light coming from the side, above, behind, etc. Lighting from the camera’s direction tends to flatten forms. With that in mind, I adjusted the lighting so it comes from the upper left, which places most of the right side of the character in shadow. This alone immediately adds more volume to the portrait—even without fully rendering details like reflected light, core shadows, ambient occlusion, and so on. If shading the planes of the head feels challenging, I’d highly recommend using the Asaro head as a reference. It’s an incredibly helpful tool! Hope this helps!
