Hey! Great job! This way looks better :) Now. Do not paint over a dark background because the colours get lost with it. Notice the difference when I paint over a light BG: The colours stand out more! Another thing is that now draw over your shapes to avoid things looking flat. Look for costume references so you can dress your character, either by using the shapes you already have or by modifying them based on what you have. The point is that the goal now is to make your character clear. And sketching helps a lot with that. You don't need to add light and shadow; note that just lines and flat colours are enough for a good design.
