Yo! I really like the potential of this illustration! I love the sense of dynamism you created and the opportunity you have here to push the lighting even further :D Because of that, I’d like to focus mainly on the lighting. You currently have two light sources: the main one coming from above, and the artificial light from the rays, which is really what makes this illustration interesting. The first thing I would do is darken the character a bit more so the light from the rays stands out more. I like the idea of outlining the face and the arm with a blue light, and having part of the leg overlap with the rays, it makes the overall silhouette much more interesting. You can also notice that I increased the lighting on the arm holding the sword so we can create some rim lights in that area. I would also add a blur effect to the rays in the foreground so they don’t distract the viewer. This helps keep the focus on the character, and foreground blur usually adds a nice sense of depth as well. As for the natural lighting, I would keep it a bit more subtle so it mainly illuminates the upper part of the character and slightly brightens the background. You could also paint a bit of the ground so it makes more sense where the character is standing. Having everything completely black isn’t the best solution. And personally, I wouldn’t add anything too complex in the background; I actually like how it looks right now. Hope this helps!
