What can I improve?
Guardian Mermaid illustration
Hi!
I created an image of the depths based on an archetypes for contest: the maiden (warrior) and the guardian. Just wanted to create something both soft and knightly in my illustration. My struggle is rushing to take the first almost the first concept that I liked, so I'm not sure if the story is clear. She is a strong, warrior mermaid who protects the weak, but you can still swim up to her for some friendly interaction. Also, I doubt about rendering overall. Maybe some tips how to improve the character and its surroundings? I'm having trouble with the lighting I think maybe I added it too much. Maybe also about her design, I was inspired by forest elfs, but made it under water to create a controversial design.
