What can I improve?

cut/time at the school festival

i am STRUGGLING. this is my first time not working directly from reference and having to kind of guess lighting... the girl on the right i think i know how to fix but i can't wrap my head around how to add the same level of detail to the left girl without her looking kind of weird and old. any help with where to add shadows and such while keeping her looking like a high schooler instead of an uncle would be appreciated. (the background will be completely reworked it's just there so i remember it's sunny lol)
