Hey! I could say that there are different ways to paint explosions and flames (depends of the style you're aiming). But I highly recommend you look for real-life references first and study them. Study the movement, shape, etc. It's quite hard to paint something (harder without a previous line drawing) if you don't know your subject and try to paint from imagination. You can also look for artists and study the way they paint these things so you can mimic the style or workflow. Keep in mind the form the whole time. For explosions, I found this cool picture (left top) showing the movement direction. And as you can see, painting explosions is like painting clouds, but with movement/motion. Painting flames is the same logic as painting explossions but less fluffy lol So.. The best advice I can give you is to look and study your references. Would be quite hard to explain everything here, so I just made an overpainting showing how I'd do it Keep it up!
