Hey there! Nice illustration! :D I can’t help too much with the line weight since I’m not able to draw much right now. But focusing on the lighting: It’s always essential to know where your main light source is coming from. In this case, I placed it behind the character because I feel it adds a bit more drama and visual interest :D Start by painting your graphic shapes, clearly separating light from shadow. From there, you can gradually refine the transitions between light and shadow, adding things like reflected light, ambient occlusion, and so on. Of course, this will depend on the style you’re aiming for, and since this leans more toward a toon style, I think using mostly graphic shapes could work really well, especially when combined with strong line quality. Regarding line quality, as a general rule: Use thicker lines where there are cast shadows, where forms overlap (the form in front should have the thicker line), and around your focal point. Keep thinner lines in areas where there isn’t much visual interest. Feel free to reach out to me on Discord if you have any questions :) Hope this helps!
