Draw over the artwork to provide visual corrections

I always struggle when it comes to adding a background and imagining what I’m going to draw in a cohesive narrative. Most of the time, the idea changes just because I overthink whether the narrative will be successfully delivered or not.

Like this piece — I actually just wanted to draw a woman. But then the idea of adding a wolf came in, along with the narrative of “female strength.” Most of my works start intuitively, so the narrative idea usually appears halfway through the process.

Has anyone experienced the same thing and can give me some advice on this? Thank you.
