Hey there! Nice job here! I liked this submission a lot! I had fun working on it :D If your light source is coming from above, the light will affect the top plane, while one of the side planes will remain in half light and the other side plane in shadow; this will be the basic structure. However, due to perspective, cubes that are above the horizon line will show their side planes more illuminated, whereas cubes that are below the horizon line will show the top plane, while the side plane will be mainly affected by ambient light. Now, since this is a basic scene where the sun is the main light source and the sky acts as a “secondary” light, keep in mind that the sun will always be the bully, causing colors like yellow and orange to dominate the areas it directly affects; we can even reach overexposed colors, almost whites. This gives you room to add more color dynamism in the shadows, since these are affected by ambient light and bounce light. In this way, you avoid flat colors in those areas compared to the planes affected by the bully. For now, I’ve only painted what you asked for, and this is a good base for you to start thinking about adding other aspects such as ambient occlusion, bounced light, highlights, etc Hope this helps! | Artwod Feedback
