Hey, I had a crack at this one, so I think red vs green is hard to pull off. Maybe desaturate some of that green? or alter the color of your lizard/dragon a touch? Ive tried to quick and dirty how I would go about rendering. I upped the saturation and lower the value re pink/red. I think focus on the edge where the light meets the dark (the terminator?) focus on the quality of that edge and you should be able to 'imply' the scales and form. I didnt touch the acid/slime.
