Hello there! Shading isn't as complicated as it seems... well, maybe a little, but not that much haha. The most important thing is to establish the direction of your light. Without a clear light source, it's very easy to place shadows everywhere without any consistency. That's why I always recommend deciding where the light is coming from before you start rendering. Assuming the light is coming from a three-quarter angle, notice how the entire left side and the underside of the forms fall into shadow. It also helps to think of everything as simple forms, like cylinders and boxes. This makes it much easier to understand how to shade things like the arms, torso, and other body parts. Blocking in the shadow shapes first will make the rendering process much easier. Once that foundation is in place, you can gradually build on it by adding elements such as rim light, midtones, ambient light, and anything else that fits the painting style you're aiming for.
