Hey! It's looking really good! You have a couple of ways to adjust the contrast. One option is to use Levels (I'm not sure which program you're using, but most painting software includes something similar), or you can use a layer set to Multiply to gradually darken the shadows. You can also combine both approaches: first adjust the overall values using Levels, and then paint on top to refine the areas that need more manual attention. Don't be afraid to push your shadows further. The worst thing that can happen is that it doesn't work out, and then you simply delete the layer where you painted them and try it again.
