First of all you’ve got some really cool stuff going on with parts of the mermaid. I particularly like the design of her clothes and I can see what you were trying to do with the hair. You’re asking for feedback on a lot of different topics but I first want to focus on the most fundamental issue that you need to work on which is form. I’ve done some very rough draw overs to illustrate what I mean. You’ve clearly put a lot of effort into her torso and head but then you got a bit lost when it came to her tail. There’s a lot of elements that don’t read very clearly and it’s because you don’t have a very clear understanding of the basic forms. For example, the end of her tail is not connected to anything and lacks form. Her hair as well, while it has some very nice gestural elements that give the impression of being underwater, you’ve relied too much on using a custom brush rather than thinking of the form of the hair. It took me awhile to find her hand. At first i thought you’d not drawn them at all. Again the solution is understanding form. Once you are more comfortable with drawing forms then it will be much easier for you to think about composition and rendering. | Artwod Feedback
