Hey there! Nice work on these figure studies! :) It's clear that you already have a solid foundation in figure drawing. That said, I think what would help you the most right now is practicing more gesture drawing. It will help you develop more dynamic poses with a stronger sense of flow. Building your figures with boxy mannequins is perfectly fine; in fact, simplifying the body into basic forms is one of the best ways to solve perspective problems. However, I don't think it's ideal to rely on boxy figures all the time, since they can make the pose feel a bit stiff and limit its sense of movement (at least in my opinion). That's why I'd recommend doing more gesture drawing and, over time, developing your own version of a mannequin, one that helps you create more dynamic poses. Personally, I like combining the bean with box forms. I find that approach both simpler and more enjoyable. :D Also, when you're doing studies, it's great to analyze the reference, but another exercise you can try is pushing the pose further. Exaggerate the gesture instead of copying the reference one-to-one, if you know what I mean. That's a common approach in character illustration for studios like Magic: The Gathering and Riot Games, where artists often amplify the gesture to create more dynamic and expressive poses. Hope this helps! :) | Artwod Feedback
