Hi, so I’m painting this commission portrait of a mutual friend’s two young nieces. I’m really struggling because I’m a complete beginner and this is the first time I’m painting portraits. I didn’t have great reference photos of their faces and they weren’t posed, so I had to kinda make it all up 😭 I’m not used to painting children and babies (the smaller one is supposed to be a baby) either, and they’re both girls even though it doesn’t look like it. I’m just all around struggling with making the hair look believable and the facial and clothing colors look not so smooth or flat, but have depth and realism. And making the eyes look not so uncanny. Sorry this became a vent, I’m feeling so stressed/discouraged and I want to make it look better before giving it away! Thanks | Artwod Feedback
