Hey! I don’t have much to say regarding color, you already have a very solid foundation in your painting style. I like it! As for the shading, you’ll need to define the direction of the light so you can paint the shadow shapes accordingly. That’s essential, of course. To achieve more interesting shapes, you can use the lasso tool to work with hard shapes and soft shapes, as well as the transitions between them. Even using the lasso tool to create some shapes within your light values would help produce more interesting transitions :) I don’t have much else to add—it’s mostly about exploring this process and studying your favorite artists, then imitating how they handle these techniques.
