So this is my third practice trying to do head portraits this week. I always struggle trying to copy from reference so I don’t think I’ve done this any justice. I try too hard with the hair (and the facial hair) as well as every single change in the lighting. So I’m not sure if I should simplify a bit more. But any advice is welcome with how I can better improve. Also, is there any advice for one who draws with a pencil? I tend to smudge the graphite everywhere when I go back to refine on details.
