Hello! I am learning how to draw/paint digitally, and this is my first proper foray into fully coloring a piece. I am only used to painting with actual acrylic paint, so it is certainly a daunting process to learn! This specific piece is a figure study I drew that I decided I wanted to turn into practice for a full painting. I am learning with the Krita software. For the method of painting, I decided against painting on one layer this time and am instead using one clipping mask to lay in the local colors. I think my main questions are from the process here on out. -Should I avoid using only a single clipping mask? Will that affect me negatively later? -In painting, I usually start with local color and paint a shadow color next, and then the lights, would a similar process work nicely in digital? Is there an easier process? -One of my biggest questions: How do I tackle brushes for shading? Should I start with a hard edged brush and only use an air brush for softer edges? -Should all of the painting steps be done in the clipping layer? Would it work to create layers on top of the clipping mask layer and under the lineart? Sorry if this is too many questions, and thank you for any feedback! | Artwod Feedback
