1. If you struggle with colors I would suggest to try to render in grayscale and then use color layers with blending modes and/or gradient map (there are tutorials on YT for it). Values are way more important for a painting than colors. You can use random colors and it will still look good as long as values are good. (This is what I tried to this in this paintover- converted image to greyscale, changed values, used gradient map). 2. I would try to go for dramatic lighting from above to put him in the center of attention. Good luck and don't get discouraged by colorblindness. There are a lot of famous artists who have it too and still succeeded.

When it comes to coloring and lighting, i don’t know what to do. I feel like i can make this character look more interesting by coloring more realistic skin but i can’t. That’s why I need help coloring skin and adjust lighting. FYI, i have a little red-green color blind so it’s hard for me to be sure about the skin color. If you have some tip for a guy like me, pls feel free to share.

Character rendering and lighting

Hi, I am struggling to figure out how to shade my character and his clothes especially with the color black that I used for the jacket. I haven't really decided on a light source, but ideally it's coming from the left side of him. Considering the materials as well I wanted it to be a cloth like material for the jacket and regular jeans. I would appreciate any help and input on this thanks.

Here is with the feedback i was given. I tried making the feather more interesting and resting the spear against him. I also tried the armor a more 3D look. I kept the attitude because this iteration is supposed to be smug . I tried fixing the prespective problems too, I hope it reads better and i will keep at it. Thanks everyone,
